Testing for MDR1
DNA-databank
When you have decided to have an EDTA-blood sample taken from your dog
for the DNA test on MDR1 in order to get a certificate with
the test results for your dog, it saves you time and money to have a sample
stored in the DNA databank simultaneously. The databank has several advantages:
e.g. the sample can be used as soon as DNA tests for other inherited disorders
become available. The sample will be stored for 25 years and you can have your
dog tested at any time during that period without repeating the sample
collection process.
In order to receive both certificates for your dog, you should indicate "MDR1"
and "DNA-databank" on your survey report. See the
relevant web page for details on the benefits and
importance of the DNA databank.
